Edinburgh City FC are delighted to announce that centre-back Jesus Garcia Tena has agreed to extend his stay with the Club. The 27 year-old defender signed a short-term deal in September and has now put pen to paper on a contract which will see him remain at City until the end of the season.
Manager James McDonaugh said “It’s good news for the Club and the group of players that we have been able to keep Jesus for the rest of the season. We will need him to work hard and use his experience to play his part in our progress”.
Meanwhile, defender Liam Henderson has been released from his contract after landing a deal with Perth-based Stirling Lions who play in the league below the Australian A-League. The lure of returning to full-time football proved too much to resist for the former Falkirk youngster and the Club has reluctantly agreed to allow him to leave in order that he can continue his career Down Under.
Henderson was quick to praise the Club for the manner in which the matter has been handled stating “I’m really grateful to everyone at the Club for allowing me to pursue a full-time career in Australia. I’ve really enjoyed my time at City, they’re a great bunch of lads and although I’ll be on the other side of the world I’ll be keeping any eye on their results every Saturday”.
