Edinburgh City are delighted to announce that current Scotland Under 19 International Matthew Shiels has joined the Club on an emergency loan from Rangers. Also joining the Club until the end of the season after a successful trial period is former St Mirren forward Lewis McLear.
Manager James McDonaugh commented “We’ve made two signings that will improve the quality of the squad for the last few weeks of the season. Matthew is a promising young talent who could push towards the fringes of the Rangers first team whilst also making more appearances at International level. Lewis is a player who still has the potential to play at a higher level and I hope that he can prove this over the next few weeks and earn himself an extended contract. It’s a great bonus for the Club to be signing players of this quality and I hope that they can both push us towards securing safety and a strong league finish.”
