With Saturday’s disappointing result at Elgin behind us, we have a quick opportunity to bounce back in the Irn-Bru Cup against Albion Rovers.
Opponents: ALBION ROVERS
Albion Rovers have found life tough in League 2 following relegation last season. Our opening day 4-0 victory against them was followed up with a similar reverse at home to Peterhead on Saturday past. A healthy re-building program has been underway for the club over the summer and indeed in the last week they have added three new loan signings, with teenagers Aaron Reid, Lee Duncanson and Scott Gray, all joining from St Mirren, Partick Thistle and Rangers respectively.
As always a cash gate is in operation for the match, with adults priced at £12, concessions £6 and u12s free when accommpanied by a paying adult. In the Irn-Bru Cup, our various half-price entry incentives are not in operation.
At Elgin on Saturday we picked up a couple of knocks, with Andy Black, Gareth Rodger, Allan Smith and John Dunn all likely to be rested from the starting XI. They join long-term absentee Josh Walker on the sidelines, however on the plus side, Liam Henderson’s long-running international clearance saga has been resolved and he is free to make his second debut if selected. Additionally, Brad Donaldson returned to the squad on Saturday and is fully fit for tomorrow night’s match.
We opened our campaign against Albion with a fine 4-0 win, with a hat-trick from Blair Henderson and Allan Smith completing the scoring. Saturday brought disappointing results all-round, so this match offers plenty of incentive to both teams to get back to winning ways.
