Edinburgh City’s James McDonaugh and Conrad Balatoni claim League Two monthly awards

Manager and Player gongs for September both go to Ainslie Park after City’s stunning start to the season.

Edinburgh City’s James McDonaugh and Conrad Balatoni have won the Ladbrokes League Two Manager and Player of the Month awards for September.

The Citizens are flying this term, two points clear at the top of the division, having won their last ten games in all competitions.

Their only defeat came in the second week of the season, when they went down 1-0 away to Elgin.

Since then they’ve been unstoppable, and ex-Falkirk assistant McDonaugh has deservedly been recognised as the top boss in the bottom tier over the past few weeks.

Former Hearts defender Balatoni was seen as something of a coup when he signed for the Ainslie Park club in the summer, with many believing he should be playing at a higher level.

His commanding displays have done nothing to disprove that theory, and the Leeds-born centre back headed home last Saturday’s winner against Cowdenbeath to keep his side’s great run going.
