Edinburgh City FC are delighted to announce that from season 2020, we will be fielding a WOMEN’S team in the Performance Arm of Scottish Women’s Football, within the newly forming Championship League.

After hearing this exciting new era for the club, Head Coach Brian Ross commented:

What you imagine, you can create.”

With the Affiliation process now completed, we can now begin to create our Performance Women’s Squad.

We are looking for girls and women with the right positive mentality and excellent attitudes.

We want to provide opportunities for the right players to develop and improve and by creating a positive and professional football environment, we know that we can create a group who will be equipped mentally and physically to win football matches.

We have an excellent TEAM off the pitch, focussed and determined to support and develop our new Edinburgh City FC Women’s Performance Squad, within the Edinburgh City FC football environment and we truly believe we can create a squad capable of meeting the aspirations and ambitions of our new players and our club.

It is our intention to hold an “Open Evening” at the Oriam Performance Centre, Edinburgh in early January (the date and time to be confirmed shortly on this website) where our new management team will be on hand to set out our objectives and our strategy for our Women’s Squad. Players will then be able to decide for themselves if they see themselves being part of Edinburgh City FC Women’s exciting journey.

Chairman Jim Brown added: “Women’s football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with awareness and participation at record levels, so it is an ideal time for the club to create a Women’s team and offer a pathway to the newly forming Scottish Championship Leagues. The journey to this point has not been easy and I would like to thank Brian and his team for the hard work that has been put in to make this happen and wish them every success in their inaugural season. I am pleased to confirm that we are ONE CLUB and as such, the Women’s team will be added to the club website so that will be the only resource to find out about all our teams.
