Welcome Raffaele De Vita

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of highly experienced Raffaele De Vita from Livingston.

The Italian came to the UK with Blackburn Rovers and joined Livingston for his first spell with the club in 2008 becoming a big favourite with the Lions’ fans, averaging nearly a goal every three games during that time. Leaving the club in 2011, he enjoyed two great seasons at Swindon Town, under the management Paolo Di Canio.

His football league odyssey continued with spells at Bradford City and Cheltenham Town, before he returned north of the border to the Premiership with Ross County, during which time he enjoyed Scottish League Cup success and also personal accolades, winning the SPFL Premiership player of the month in March 2015. He re-joined Livingston in 2016 and played a key role in their promotion back to the Premiership in 2018.

Forward Raffaele joins on loan to the end of the season and will go into the matchday squad for the visit of Stenhousemuir in the BetFred Cup tomorrow. Manager James McDonaugh commented: “We have been looking extensively for weeks to add both strength and depth to the squad. It’s been difficult to find the right type that we need and signing Raffa to the end of the season will add us experience as well as quality in the forward areas of the pitch. I remember him playing against us in the Championship and I am sure with his personality, he will do well for us this season.”

The club would like to place on record our thanks to Livingston’s David Martindale for going the extra mile to ensure Raffaele’s transfer was processed quickly and professionally.

Welcome to Edinburgh City Raffaele!
