Robbie McIntyre Appointed Club Captain

Manager Gary Naysmith has confirmed to ECFC TV that left-sided defender Robbie mcIntyre has been give the role of club captain for the forthcoming season. Robbie will lead the team in Cinch League 2 this coming campaign, which will be the Gaffer’s first full season in charge and he outlined his thinking behind the appointment:

“I am delighted to announce Robbie McIntyre as our new club captain. Robbie represents everything I want from Edinburgh City players. First and formost, He has the respect of every single player in our changing room and that is something I believe a captain must have. Robbie is a very talented football player who is constantly looking to improve. Physically, he is in fantastic condition which shows you how well he looks after himself when he is away from the club and that is vitally important regardless wether you are a part time or full time player. He is someone that has been at the club for several seasons now and he understands what Edinburgh City is all about as a club and what we are trying to do as a club moving forward.

Robbie will be helped in his new role by Danny Handling, Callum Crane, Callum Tapping and Lee Hamilton. Rather than appointing one vice captain, these four players will all help to assist Robbie in his new role for the season ahead.”

The new skipper had this to say on his new role:

“I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to captain this team and really appreciate the Gaffer putting his trust in me. Now the hard work begins as we want to be challenging once again for the League title.”

Best of luck Robbie!
