Welcome Dave McKay

We are delighted to confirm the loan signing of defender Dave McKay from Raith Rovers.

The former Hibernian youth player moved to Stark’s Park in 2016 and aside from a short loan spell at Montrose has made nearly 80 sppearences for the Kirkcaldy outfit, including picking up a League 1 championship winners’ medal in 2020. Dave signed a new contract with Rovers in March 2021.

Given our own catalogue of injuries, manager Gary Naysmith was more than happy to get this deal done when he spoke to ECFC TV earlier:

“I am delighted that we have been able to sign Dave Mckay on a short term deal until January. Dave is 23 and has been with Raith since joining from school. He has made a lot of first team appearances for Raith and can play as a central defender or as a right back. At this moment in time, we are severely lacking in fit defenders and Dave will give us another option in that area of the pitch.  I must thank John Mcglynn and Raith Rovers for their help in concluding this deal so quickly. Dave will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game.”

ECFC TV caught up with the new man who was equally pleased:

“It’s great to be here at Edinburgh City, they’re a team who have firmly established themselves in the SPFL over the last few seasons and are clearly building something. I’m excited to have joined the Club and can’t wait to get started tomorrow night.”

Great to have you on board Dave!
