A solid performance saw us record our second home win of the season
A fine performance was rewarded with a 3-1 win against Stirling Albion.
City returned to league duty and started the match on the front door, pressing Stirling high up the park and dominating possession. It was pretty much one way traffic for the entirety of the first half, with Graham Taylor, Blair Henderson and Danny Handling all having excellent opportunities to score. City were awarded a penalty close to half time, however Blair Henderson’s penalty was well saved by the Bino’s keeper.
The second half was barely minutes old when another penalty was awarded to City and this time it was Scott Shepherd who stepped up and he made no mistake. While this was just reward for all their good play, out of nowhere Stirling were soon level. A fairly speculative cross from the left evaded everyone and the ball was turned in at the far post. This led to Stirling’s best ten minutes of the match and they could have taken the lead but Calum Antell clawed away a good free kick despite the Albion players protests that the ball had crossed the line.
This seemed to spur City back to life and they were soon ahead again, a brilliant header from Conrad Balatoni billeting home from a Robbie McIntyre corner. The scoring was concluded after Graham Taylor’s run led to Danny Handling driving the ball across goal, giving the defender no option but to turn it into his own net.
City managed out the rest of the game comfortably and can reflect on a very professional performance and a big three points.
