Crystal Ball Update |
City's season
long Crystal Ball competition, in which entrants were asked to predict
the Scottish and English Division champions is drawing to a close.
The current leaders are:
1. Raymond Hall (82 pts)
2. D. Baird (67 pts)
3=. Alan Mackintosh and Neil Martin (66 pts)
5=. Dave Beecroft, Steve Scott, 'Big Al' and TW May (61 pts)
Despite a commanding lead, Ray can still be caught as the final
positions in the English Leagues are far from certain. There will also
be changes if Annan overhaul Spartans at the top of the ESL.

Watt Hit for Six |
City produced one of
their best performances of the season as they hit six without reply at
sun-kissed Riccarton. Some resolute defending kept City at bay in the
early stages, but in the 25th minute Kenny Ross slipped the ball across
the face of goal for his brother Robbie to hit home.
Own goals either side of half time gave City a three goal advantage,
before Jean Ferreira came on for Shaune Allan. The new signing
created chances for Danny Noon and Kenny Young before extending City's
lead himself. Brazilian born Ferreira ran on to Kenny Young's pass
before firing the ball low under the advancing keeper from the edge of
the box.
Despite the comfortable lead there was no respite for the home defence
as City continued to look for goals and in the final ten minutes city
completed their scoring with goals from Danny Noon and Kenny Young. |

Another Draw for City |
|
The Citizen's recorded
their second draw in three days when yesterday's meeting with Selkirk
ended 1-1. Despite dominating the first half, City found themselves a
goal down when the home side converted a controversial penalty with
minutes of the remaining. City continued to press in the second and with
25 minutes remaining Kenny Young equalised with a stunning 25 yard
effort. City put the home defence under extreme pressure in the closing
minutes but couldn't find a winning goal. |

Caddow Strike Sinks Craigie |
|
City ended their run of
draws by beating Craigroyston 2-0 at Meadowbank Stadium yesterday
afternoon. Just as in the last four matches, City enjoyed the
lion's share of possession but couldn't find away to put the ball in the
net. However that changed with 20 minutes remaining when Danny
Noon tapped home from close range. Ten minutes later Jordan Caddow
sealed the victory when he clipped the ball over the goalkeeper.

Four in a Row for City |
|
City recorded their
fourth successive 1-1 draw when they met Lothian Thistle at Meadowbank
Stadium in last night's re-arranged Premier Division fixture. Having hit
the bar and had a legitimate penalty claim waved away the home
side were unlucky not to be leading at half-time. City continued
to press their opponents in the second half, but it was Thistle who
opened the scoring when Boggie rifled home a loose ball from the edge of
the box. City set about finding an equaliser, which came with ten
minutes left to play, when Kenny Young prodded home Robbie Ross's
deflected effort.

City Rue Missed Chances
Again |
|
City passed up three
glorious scoring opportunities and missed a penalty before Edinburgh
University opened the scoring with their own spot kick in yesterday's
Premier Division encounter. The visitors, who dominated
throughout, eventually found their way through the student's defence
with 20 minutes remaining. Robbie Ross ran on to Kerr Dodds knock
down and slipped the ball under the advancing goal keeper. Like
the midweek match against Preston City had the chances to pick up all
three points. |

Chances Missed as City Draw
with Athletic |
|
City came from a goal
down to record a 1-1 draw with Preston Athletic at the Pennypit last
night. Danny Noon, Robbie Ross and Kenny Young all had chances to
give City the lead, however with 30 minutes played it was the visitors
who were trailing when a corner was forced in at the back post. City's
equaliser eventually came in the 65th minute, when Caddow converted
Young's corner. City could have gone on to pick up all three
points had they taken one of the numerous chances which came there way
in the closing minutes. |
