We returned to leave duty today following back to back cup wins, with a trip to Stirling Albion.
The Binos were under new management for this one, with Kevin Rutkiewicz taking over following the recent departure of Dave McKay.
City started the match in great style, creating several chances but a combination of great defending and wayward finishing kept the score level. From the midway point of the half Stirling came more into the game and pressed without really creating any clear cut chances. The goal came slightly against the run of play when a Andy Black and Craig Thomson combined, with Black’s overlapping run ending in a cross which Thomson headed into the bottom corner, although the Albion keeper will know he should have done better.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Stirling huffing and puffing but other than one good save from Antell, it was really City who showed the quality. But for a lack of killer instinct in the final third, City could have added to their lead but ultimately a good win to keep us in pole position in League 2.
