Edinburgh City FC Sign Alan Martin
The club is delighted to announce that experienced goalkeeper Alan Martin has signed following his release from East Kilbride.
Alan is a former Scotland u21 international who began his career with Motherwell before moving South to Leeds United in 2007 and spending time with various English clubs before coming back north of the border with Ayr United in 2011. Most recently he has played for Hamilton, Dumbarton, Queen of the South and Lowland League champions East Kilbride.
On the news of Alan’s signing, manager James McDonaugh commented: “The goalkeeping situation this season has been a real headache. From the summer I went with Antell as our main keeper but since his injury we have had to use 4 more keepers because of a catalogue of injuries to them all. With McAdams and Antell still injured we have been working on trying to get another keeper, our sixth of the season, and when I knew of the possibility that we could get Alan I felt he was one with both ability and experience that would be great for us. Josh came in to help us but was planning on going to England so we continued to try and sign Alan and when it was all agreed this week I was delighted. Hopefully now we can be more settled in that department of the team and have good competition with Martin Antell and McAdams.”
Alan himself commented: “Delighted to be here at Edinburgh City it’s been going on for a while so I was delighted to get it done. It’s a club that’s been doing really well and are fighting for promotion and it’s nice to get myself back into the league. I know all the keepers that have played have done really well so I know ive got a tough task to follow. Hopefully I can play and do well for the team and help keep the momentum going”
Welcome to the club Alan!
