Chris Kane Returns

We are delighted to welcome back defender Chris Kane, who has agreed a return to City after a season with League 2 rivals Stenhousemuir.

Chris began his career at Heart of Midlothian, going on to enjoy spells at Dunfermline Athletic and Cowdenbeath, before joining East Fife in 2016. After making more than 80 appearances and scoring five goals for the Methill outfit, Chris joined City for the first time in 2019. The versatile defender made 28 appearences in all competitions, notching two goals in the process. He spent last season at Stenhousemuir, playing against City at Ainslie Park in March 2021.

ECFC TV caught up with the “new” man, who was delighted to be back at the Club:

“This is a great opportunity to return to Edinburgh City and play for Gary Naysmith. I’m looking forward to working hard with this group, winning games of football and fighting for a league medal.”

Manager Gary Naysmith had this to say on Chris’ return:

“Even before Stephen Bronsky’s injury, I knew we were still a little light in numbers within our defence. Chris has done a few training sessions with us since we returned and I am delighted that he has agreed a short term deal until January. The length of deal suits both parties as it gives me an extra defender in the squad straight away whilst it also gives Chris a little bit of security whilst he tries to prove that he deserves a longer deal at the club. He is a little bit behind our lads in terms of his fitness but we will look to build that up in the current weeks. Chris is someone that I have previously managed when I was at East Fife so I know what he can bring to the team. He is an experienced defender who can fill a number of roles and is also a good character to have around the club”

It’s great to have you back on board Chris!
