We can confirm that defender Ciaran Brian has signed for the Club following a successful trial period.
Having started his career at the Hibs Academy where he was signed at the age of 9 by City’s Sporting Director James McDonaugh, Ciaran also attended and graduated from the SFA performance school at Brougton High School in Edinburgh. From there he signed for St Johnstone, spending three years in Perth before moving on to Berwick Rangers in SPFL League 2. Most recently he played in Sweden with Ytterhogdals IK.
ECFC TV spoke to manager Gary Naysmith, who was happy to have added another defensive player to his squad:
“Ciaran was someone that was brought to my attention by Dick Campbell who has known Ciaran for a few years now. We invited Ciaran in to do some pre season with us and after playing 45 minutes against Rangers Colts, he unfortunately had to miss ten days due to Covid. Since then he has come back in and trained with the group and is another that played and played well in the closed door game with Livingston. Ciaran is over 6ft in height, is still only 21 and is equally comfortable as a right back or right wing back. He is a good athlete who can defend and he is also comfortable on the ball when attacking. We look forward to welcoming him into our first team squad.”
The new man gave this reaction having put pen to paper:
“I’m really excited to be here at Edinburgh City and can’t wait to get the new season started. Since I’ve been in training the boys, Gaffer and all the staff have been great with me and now I just look forward to working hard and playing my part in hopefully a successful season for the club”
Good luck Ciaran!
