ECFC Women Head Coach Opportunity

Edinburgh City Women, currently playing in the SWF Championship South (third tier) of Scottish Women’s Football, are looking for a new Head Coach with immediate effect.

We have established a strong squad of more than 20 signed players, all of whom have played at a higher level, and we are seeking a Head Coach who can continue to grow and develop this group even further. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious qualified coach who wants to play a key role in developing not only the Women’s first team, but a youth pathway within the Club as a whole.

We will shortly be returning to the new Meadowbank Stadium, where the team’s home matches will be played on the stadium pitch, and you will be supported by a strong, well-run community- based club, who are looking forward to the future with great excitement. Training will be twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with SWF Championship matches played typically on Sunday afternoons, notwithstanding the occasional midweek Cup or re-scheduled fixtures.

The new Head Coach will have a track record of coaching successful teams with an understanding of how to get the best out of players and staff. They must be someone who can lead a positive culture and inspire others around them, with the aim of advancing Edinburgh City Women towards SWPL 1. The incoming person will work closely with the existing club infrastructure and will be able to build a team of coaching and support staff whilst recruiting players as required.

The successful applicant must possess the following:

  • Relevant high-level coaching experience with a successful track record of developing players and teams.
  • Minimum C License Coaching qualification, with a willingness to work towards the next available level of qualification.
  • Experience of attending and commitment to CPD opportunities.
  • A track record of managing and working with in a set budget.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the running of a performance-level football club and its associated youth teams as well as being responsible for various operational aspects of the club.
  • Monitoring players’ progress and reporting to the Board as required.
  • The ability to build, lead and manage a team of coaches and support staff- forming strong relationships based on mutual respect and trust, reinforced with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience of high-level football, with a view to player recruitment and development.

The position is a part-time, voluntary role and the successful applicant will be expected to deliver positive outcomes both on and off the pitch.

A range of benefits including full training kit will be provided.
